I hear neck knives are high summer fashon this year so I made up one out of a small Roachish type I have not yet found a place for..till now

Very nice design, Tg. It looks very safe to use, and it looks sharp!I like sheaths that cover up about 3/4 of the total length of the knife. The knife is much less likely to fall out when you bend over to pick something up.

"You'll fit right in at any pow-wow with that getup."

Not to the local one here. I believe they said "never again"..that was 15 years ago thopugh so maybe they have forgoten or died, I don't make stuff to sell there anymore anyway and I am not going to show NA's how to knap points again so it doesn't matter.

It would be acceptable at most any events...but I wouldn't at one, there are just some locals who took offense to some items I made and sold at their pow wow many years ago and asked me not to return.

Looks good. Real pretty lines. What kind and weight of leather did you use for the sheath?

That group must have been made up with a bunch of ------. Don't worry about it ,just keep on with the keeping on..

Tg, That is really nice! I'm not trying to put you or Neck Knives down in any way, but are they PC/HC? I heard it was a late 1800 Plains Indian thing? I know you didn't make the statement about PC/HC, but I'm just courious!
Rick

I think you may be right about the time frame, but it probably is one of those things that seem to catch on and are generally accepted at most all except the strictly juried events. By the way, that is a NICE knife and sheath! Emery

I really have not done any research on the useage of neck knives so I make no claims about one if asked, this one has an Elk rawhide innersheath that is shrink fitted and a BT deer light weight outer sheath sewn over the rawhide, you can use wool, fur or leather for the outer sheath. I have just used the inner shaetg without a cover sheath with heavy rawhide that hides the kife blade. As I think about it I seem to recall that the neck knofe may have been used by the French up North earlier, not sure though Pichou likely has the scoop on the neck knife, he's like having a walking encyclopedia on many topics, it's scary to think how much he will know when he grows up (VBG)
