I think we need another survey to see if more members are making their own Balls, patches and other stuff. I believe more do this now than the survey from 2007. I've got to believe more than 16% and 17% make their own balls and patches since it's so easy to do. What say ya'll?

I have 6 muzzle loaders that I make all of my round balls and patches for. Not to mention flints, jags, ram rods etc. My wife thinks I spend a lot of money on my muzzle loading. She has no idea the amount of money I could spend, or the amount of money I save. :shocked2:

I make as much as I can, Balls, 4 different sizes, patches, powder horn, patch Knife, powder measure..etc....

I buy Goex and caps. everything else I make or trade for from someone who made it.

I've done my own patches, lube, leather and much else for years, but this year I'm going to run my own balls as well as I'm shooting twenty and 12 gauge guns. When I did .50 and .54 rifles I was happy with the swaged balls and they were cheap enough and easy enough to come by, but necessity is the mother of invention.

I cast my own RB's, cut my own patches (pillow ticking usually), and occasionally make my own patch lube as well. I cast bullets for all of my centerfire rifle and make my own lube (Felix Lube) for them too.

I am currently casting 5 sizes of ball and using square cut patches made from ticking. I have also made my own bags, horns and knives. I just keep reading this forum and continue trying new stuff. It keeps me busy and off the streets.

I cast my own balls and bullets. cut my own patches loading and cleaning. Made my own bag and patch knife.

Same here, cast my own RB, patches, lube, and trying to learn from some of the artists around here to make more of my own things--like guns, flints, etc.

I forgot i also made my own range loading box.

I cast my own RB and cut my own patches from bulk material. Can't see paying the ridiculous prices they're asking.

Thats a nice range box, one of these days I'll make one. I mold my own balls, about 1200 last count. cut patches and make my lube. Also have made a couple of hunting bags, and one powder horn thats 2/3's done.

I cast my own balls and buy yards of material to tear into strips for cutting patches at the muzzle or when loading up ball-blocks. I guess that is making my own - but I don't weave the material myself. :haha:

I make my own liquid lube/powder sovent and grease lube as well.

This thread ain't gonna make a good "Survey" ? :idunno:

It leaves no option except to jump on the Yup I do bandwagon.

We need a "Survey" link or something so folks can check a yea or nay box with options for a count,,
