This is the only identification mark on the gun:

We're trying to execute the estate of a close friend who was an FFL and collector. Any help in identifying this gun would be very much appreciated by the family.

Hi,
It has a Liege proofmark, so it's probably one of the multitude of Belgian firearms from the mid 19th century.

It's a center-hammer "pocket pistol" from Belgium as mentioned above. Also agree about the mid-19th century date. The brass (actually bronze) barrel is suppose to be less prone to corrosion. Sort of a large size derringer, if you will.
 
Based on the number of similar Belgian guns shown in my reference books they must have made a gizzillion of them. There are short ones, long ones, flintlock ones, percussion ones, bronze/brass ones and steel ones.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a wood one. :rotf:

Seriously, if I were to guess at a value for it it would be in the $200-$275 range.
