Hello,

I have an interesting problem that someone here probably has ran into in the past.

I have a 54 cal kentucky flint and the ramrod is wood, I do not want to use that to clean with and all the rods I have looked at are to long so I will have to fabricate something for my needs. The biggest concern I have is thread sizes, seems that I have 3-4 different thead sizes and it's a big pain in the a$$ to keep them apart esp when 2 looks very close to the same.

I have found that the shotgun brushes and mops work great but they have the 10x32 size. The patch puller and ball puller I have is in 2 sizes. So any recomendations on what would work here? would be nice to have 1 or 2 rods that would take all these attachments.

also what's the best method to attach a handle to a fiberglass rod if I was to cut one to length?

Couple ways to go with cleaning rods: First, you should have at least one steel rod that never goes in your thimbles, and that one needs to be long. You can get those with handles attached. Fiberglass is a good choice for a hunting rod, but pin the ends on!

Ya oughta be able ta find what ya need here. TTOW and others also sell most everything thing ya need.

Hope it helps,

There is not a real reason not too, if it is what you have. Just make sure that it is pinned properly so it does not pop off and leave you with a bt of a proble to solve.

Most ML suppliers can get you a custom cut rod in brass or stainless. October Country, TVM Avance and TVM Garner come quickly to mind. (Rods can be replacements to be carried in the ramrod channel or range rods. You need to let us know which.)

I gave away my fiberglass rod as I understand that is is quite abrasive and also I made better wooden ones for keeping in the gun. I also have a brass one and a steel one in some guns.

For range rods, I use brass or stainless steel rods with pool balls or antler sections epoxied in as handles. I also use a bore guide to protect the muzzle area whenever possible.

Hello,

thanks for the info. What I am going to do is get an order together for tvm and get a stainless rod with all the fittings I need.
