Need help with id

A friends dad passed away and I was gifted some his cool antique guns. I got this one recently and I can't make out writings by the hammer. There's other stamping on the back of the grip. I know it's old and a paper weight now but knowing a little about it would be nice. Thanks.

Looks like a military pistol, European. Not sure what country.

Take is with a grain of salt as I’m no expert but it looks to me that this could possibly be a French model (AN XIII) originally flintlock converted to percussion, or 1822. Although bolster is different on 1822 and yours has no front sight which would be on 1822.
Logo reads either Mre Imp'ale de st Etienne or Mre Imp’ale de Chatellerault basically an abbreviation for something like “Imperial Manufacture of Chatellerault”or St. Etienne.

I agree, it’s a French cavalry pistol that has had some modifications.

One interesting feature of the flintlock is the ramrod is used to tighten the jaws, it passes through the hole at the top.

The white bolster on mine is a mystery though, I have no idea what that material actually is, maybe bone or ivory? It definitely doesn't sound metallic when you tap on it.
All I have seen are brass ones so far.

We maybe assigning different meanings to the word “bolster” - to me bolster is the appendage on a side of a barrel into which the nipple screws in. It appears to be made of same or similar metal as the lock and barrel.
The only white colored piece I see in your picture is the front barrel band along with the side plate - both should be brass and welded together. It is interesting how the side plate goes from white to the darker color which looks metallic. Could it be just painted over with a white paint or result of oxidation or chemical discoloration? Or maybe it is a later attempt to replace lost band with tin or some other material. Could be one of the Middle East bazaar ornamental specials made of both original and home made parts and pieces to resemble a gun.
