Had a gun come by me today. It had a half-stock, and the bore was about .31 caliber. The lock was stamped J.H. Vajen and, the Barrel was stamped S. Beck. These were the only markings I could find. I tried a google search, and came up empty. I want to do my own research, but if someone can point me in the right direction it would be helpful.

"AMERICAN FIREARMS MAKERS" by A. Merwyn Carey, 1953 shows a J. H. Vagen & Co. which made percussion rifles at Indianapolis, Indiana. No date given.

"AMERICAN GUN MAKERS" by L. D.. Satterlee, 1940 adds the date as 1869-1871.

If you can post a digital photo it would help us identify other features. To do this your photo must be uploaded to a web site that is available to the Forums computer. (Your home computer is not available to our computer).
