need ideas on fitting an trigger guard

been working on gun for over year. had to order another trigger guard for it. the other one was too small for the double set trigger. the problem with this one is. will not fit in the inlays for the trigger guard. thinking about filling them in and surface mounting the guard.

first one was from track of the wolf. (going to be used in an future project that I can't go in to details)
second from cane's outdoors

only thing left is getting an rear site (swear I had on for it), drilling an pilot hole for 1 screw for the butt plate, and figuring out the trigger guard.

My idea is to just take small pieces of wood insert them in the trigger guard.

first thought, glue the wood into the inlay. problem with that, if I run into the trigger guard for that stock, I may damage the stock taking the inserts out.

the other I had was just screw some inserts in to the lay out that was if I do find the right trigger guard all I gotta do is unscrew them.

does anyone else have any ideas? outside of buying another trigger guard. my wife has to me she will break some important parts off me if I buy another trigger guard, there is not quick fix for that.

cva barrel
charles dayle stock
rest pretty cva parts (yes I added the double set)

odd and ends i picked up here and there
trigger guard is the only thing I was not able to get was the right trigger guard I was slways out bidded at the last min.

Well as long as you have it put together with odds an ends (been there-done that)
Might as well do what you plan, surface mount the guard you have,,
,,when you install the bit's of wood to the current trigger guard mortice,,just use a bit of RTV or household silicon as the adhesive,,you'll be able to pull the wood and "rub" out the silicon,, :idunno:
Look's like a guard from a CVA Mountain Rifle might work,??

little bending of the trigger guard, ends of hobby sticks and double sided tape (very short term).

here in a few months. I will order an cva mtn rifle guard. just need to finish the next project I am getting ready to start.

no go, could not find one to save my life online.

i have an cva hawken in 50 cal. (bought as an whole gun) tried its guard on it one time. it fit. but there was an no go on finding it until today after I finished working on it. find the cva guard oh well. have an agreement with my wife right now. no more trigger guards for an few months. until my next project is done.

will not go into details on it.

I understand that your wife has put the kibosh on buying another trigger guard. What about trading? Offer up one of the ones you won't use in the classifieds. Who knows, it may work!
