Is it true that Neats' were put on the Endangered Species List?

I know I haven't seen any oily little tracks in the woods for a long time. :hmm:

Sadly, both neats (for their oily feet) and naugas (for their hides) are getting very hard to find. I understand that morel mushroom hunters still occasionally find them, supposedly around snipe dens.

My wife says you need a high-powered VISA with telecopic sights...

I can't remember the last time I saw a nauga or a nauga hide either for that matter.

Actually, the ancestral home of the Nauga is Naugatuck, Connecticut, and a herd is still maintained there. A little on-line research will lead one to a web-site where a person may purchase their own real live Naugas and start their own herd. A little known fact about Naugas is that they can shed their hides without harm to themselves and then regrow them. Naugahydes can be a profiable sideline and earn money to be put toward powder and ball and fine custom muzzleloaders. SAVE THE NAUGAS!!!!

DANG! No tellin how many naugas I killed just so I could skin them. :rotf: A nauga farm, now there's an idea.Ummmmmmm, what do naugas eat?

Something about the leather sucking moisture out of the air but I've got four that live in leather in the humid south, no rust however I check them every few days when I'm not using them just to be sure.

I think that some types of leather are tanned with chemicals that can cause metal to rust. I have some of my pistols in their holsters and have not had a problem, yet.
Your "mileage" may vary tho...

Yep muest be a personal issue. I store up 6 pistols in thier holsters (so I know which goes with which). Have done it for years and have had no problems. I just use the same 2 belts USA, CSA. I store Pattersons, Remingtons, Colt pockets, Rogers & Spensers. And a ummm .22 cartridge.
Of course mine are out in the field firing one or the other about every week, either live or as a reenactment pistol (no lead just powder).
It's so much easier tograb and go than to hunt for the right holster.
