I really like the mountain man style but when I get to shoot the most it will be hot and I figure leathers wood be very hot. I really wouldnt know what look went with what profession. I have searched the net and their is not a lot of pics of various outfits. Thanks

If your after a mountain man look rent Jeremiah Johnson and watch the movie should give you some ideas.

I agree with what's been said about figuring out "who ya are" "when ya lived" "what your livelihood was" "where you came from maybe" etc. etc. saves on time and money and you don't end up looking like a "composite" of history.

Here's a link that has links with pictures, most of the guys in these go for the 1830s trapper look, sorry no desciptions really to go with what you see. Bear in mind they're just folks too, so you may see things that aren't right.
Hope it helps.

I'm in the same pickle. Have you looked at mid 1790's Indiana? Well, I guess that would be Northwest Territory then. A lot was going on along the Ohio river then with white's trying to settle north of the Ohio River. Mad Anthony Wayne was leading the Legion of the United States in warfare againt the Indian confederation then also, so a lot to look at. I've been thinking about a federally employed Frontier Ranger for mine.
