The last place within 100 miles of me to sell BP and non inline stuff closed without warnning, need a few web sites I can get less than a case at a time please.Thank you much.

Track of the Wolf (http://www.trackofthewolf.com/categories/tableList.aspx?styleID=94&subID=30&catID=2) sells 25 pound lots of Goex and Swiss. You can customize how many of what you want, 2F 3F ect. Buying it this way knocks a couple of bucks per pound off of the typical retail price. Get a couple of friends together and buy a lot, be enough there to last you a while. From what I have seen this 25 pound case configuration is typical of what mail order places do - I suspect this is in keeping with a Federal reg. of some kind - I am sure someone else on here will know the story on that.

Yup, by federal law the most anyone can buy/send at one time is 50 lbs.

I may end up doing the same thing. Haven't found a spot near Roanoke, VA that sells real BP yet. Anyone know of a place that does?

Here are a couple places to try for powder, last time I looked both would sell less than 25 lb lots, however the hazmat fee is the same for 5 lb as it is for 25lb, so the more powder you buy the less per pound the fee is, also powder Inc varies the price depending on how much powder you buy.

I buy mine from Grafs, the nice thing is they pay shipping, all I had to pay was the hazmat fee.

That may be how they 'advertise' it, but believe me, you're paying for the shipping

Twisted 1 in 66,
I live in Richmond. I'll go in with you if you want to split an order. I usually order from Maine Powder House.

Doug in Virginia

Great Doug! Not ready to order yet, but would be great to split an order with you. Their pricing looks good.

Thanks,
Dan

I bought 25 lbs from Graf last year, thought it was overkill.

I'm down to my last 6 cans!

You might want to check local fire regulations as to how much you can store...we tend to get nervous when the fire is shooting back at us. :(

thanks everyone, I know I saw a post a long way back that had 4 or 5 places with a 5 lb min, dont want to keep much more than that around, but it may be the thing to do (go in on 25) Ill see if anyone else has a place, its just something how places to get powder ect are just going poof gone.

I just purchased 25 lbs of Kik powder from Powder, Inc and it was only $210 delivered, which makes it a great deal, IMO. They will also sell in 5 & 10 lb lots but the price per lb will be higher because the hazmat fee will be the same. Buying a case is definitely the cheapest way to go and you can mix powder brands and granulations.

are you using kik in a flinter?

Yes, I use KIK blackpowder in all my rifles, including my flinter. It gives performance comparable to Swiss at price cheaper than Goex.

I also use KIK in everything. The FFg behaves the same GOEX FFFg. The only rifle that did not seem to like it as well was my Santa Fe. I switched to a .515 ball with a little thicker patch and everything is right with the world again. Everything else from .36 to .58 liked it with no change.
