Here's my latest Bowie, a decidedly Neo-Tribal Metalsmith knife. The foot-long blade is 5160, etched with ferric chloride to show off the differential hardening, as well as to antique it. The "Ha'penny" crossguard I forged from mild steel and browned, as is the buttcap. Both have filework. The sheath is leather-lined Baltic birch, covered in unbleached rawhide. Naturally, it's scarily sharp! :shocked2:

A man could "tickle someones ribs all day" with that as the saying goes! :shocked2:

Bubba, old buddy, that comes from my prime supplier of bone products: PetSmart. Coupla bucks in the chewtoy section gets you an 8" hunk of beef bone, already thoroughly boiled out and bleached.
I just file and sand it down to shape, maybe file out the marrow channel for more tang space, and soak in wood stains.
