Blevins of the famous family of gunsmiths? Holy cow that's a beautiful rifle. I have a friend currently putting together a .40 cal. southern mtn rifle with a Rice barrel 3/4" atf x 42", an L&R Durs Egg lock, and a Pecatonica m2 curly maple precarve (which is at least an m3). So far he has the barrel and lock inletted
and is collecting small parts. Davis triggers, Carolina style guard, iron buttplate and plain iron thimbles and nose cap. I'm helping him put it together, but he will do his own finish work. He now has some beautiful pictures of the gun he wants to build, by a master. I'm humbled and inspired, as I know Terry will be. Thank you.
I don't much about his family, other than he said they were "long hunters" back in the 1700s but I can tell you this he is the real deal. I have looked at a lot of BP guns and this is the nicest one I have ever saw or handled. one thing I forgot to add, he fired blued the hardware in charcoal. to be honest I have saw guns that didn't look as good or near as nice as this one for twice what I paid for it. I am really impressed, now tomorrow after church I will see how it dose on my range,,,,,,,,,,,,
