My grandfather was a Royal Engineer officer in the British liaison HQ to the 1st Polish Armd Division in 1944. It was the pinnacle of his wartime service, and he had the most profound impact on every aspect of my life. It’s a tribute to him, and every hard-as-a-coffin-nail Polish soldier he served alongside.
