Got her in today! I got it for my brother in laws new mexico buck hunt this september. What a heck of a rifle! I compared it to my other woodsman which is a flintlock, and it seems they beefed up the wrist a LOT compared to my flinter.

I think they should adjust their CNC milling machine and take off more of that lock panel....It's huge! :shocked2:

Change the rear sight too....and you'd have a nice looking gun....

The lines look a bit beefy and clunky to me, but I'm sure those who had a Lehigh rifle in the 19th century said the same thing about those rifles coming out of the Hawken shop.

It looks like a sturdy rifle for a hunt scrabbling up and down hills and over and through rocks and brush. Your Brother-in-Law will definitely have fun with it.

Some "bean counter" probably told them they could make ten more rifles a day if they removed less wood. :td:
The flintlock looks much better.
If I were the CEO of Traditions I would fire the guy that changed the design.

I like the wrist but agree with clyde on the lock panel. way too clunky. even that flinter could use a little trim in a couple spots.

my opinion & yer welcome to it :hatsoff: .

Just built one from the kit and love it! Newbie to BP so really can't say much about any differences!
