Just received my new .600 bag mold from Larry Callahan, very impressed! Well made and seems like it'll produce some fine roundballs. Wrapped the handles with elk lace and now just awaiting to run ball. I'll be doing that this evening with the copper ladle I made. Very much looking forward to sitting by the fire.

Excellent, good to hear! Seems his molds are the standard. I'm certainly happy with how well the cavity is machined and uniform.

I'm also a fan of how the handles are set up, gives good leverage for cutting the sprue.

Sweet. My .715 from him is great. Makes casting easy. I got a .490 from TOTW a while back and it's not as well made - little gap when it closes that makes for a sort of uneven ball. Sooo I just bit the bullet and have a .490 on the way from Callahan.

I'll probably donate the TOTW.490 to the fort for demo purposes. Can't very well sell it knowing its faults, but it's at least HC enough to show folks what it looked like

Hey old friend, I need some balls for my 20 gauge smooth rifle that I've been ignoring for too long.. Just saying...

Nice! I have one of his molds in .530 and have been very happy with it.

Made the mistake of purchasing one from TOTW once upon a time. Maybe they keep them around to make money off of the restocking fee on returns.

:rotf: Seriously. The fact that Callahan's aren't much more is just wild. Should have just gotten one from him to begin with

I'm not one to call something garbage, but the TOTW molds are garbage. One look at his molds versus theirs and no comparison is needed.

Not to mention the price is unbeatable as mentioned above.

I’ve had three different sized mould from Larry and cast a couple of thousand balls. I cut the fingers off some old, heavy duty gloves. I slip those on the handles and wear gloves when casting over my little electric pot. Doing it the traditional way over a fire, leather wraps around the handles suffice.
