Hi everybody,
I just purchased a Brass Ramrods 28 3/4 inch from RMC along with a several other accessories. I am very pleased with the prompt service. I placed my order on 10/26 and received the goods today 10/31. My question is, the rod with loading jag attached sticks out past the muzzle about 3/4 of an inch. is it safe to shoot that way?

Sure is. Most all of mine stick out at least that far. It gives you a little more rod to get hold of when you swab the bore.

Personal preferences differ of course...it's safe to shoot, but I don't happen to like a ramrod that sticks out past the end of the barrel...seems to catch on things and turns nasty black in a heartbeat...I keep the loading jag in the pouch with the nylon muzzle guide slid onto it.

I have a couple that stick out past the bbl.and as was said, they tend to get pulled out in the brush.Other than that it dosn't cause a problem except catching all the crud. The extra inch or so is o.k. if Your not traveling in the brush.Helps to get a hold on it. :front:

Years ago I bought a Remington take-down brass rod. It's good for the range but has since then been replaced by a one piece brass rod that is about 48" long. That's good enough for a 46" bbl!

Not good for carrying in the woods, but great for the range and when you want to clean them long smokepoles.

Sure . . . but it will make it tough to keep the patch on.

Make sure you bend it a bit so it won't slide out from handling and recoil.

Nothing worse that trying a downward shot only to have the metal rammer slip out and clang down the hillside. ::

How about a button jag instead---it certainly won't stick way out there---that's what I use :hatsoff:
