I'm starting a Lehigh build for a left eyed right handed shooter with 2 and 1/2" of cast off it will be like a barn rifle nothing fancy just a working gun flintlock.

Interesting. Please share photos of your progress if you would. I've seen some examples of these over the years, referred to as cripple stocks i believe.

That's not cast off, it's an interesting build with an abnormal stock.

Called a crossover stock
A really novel way of dealing with the cross eye dominance. I have the same problem with crosseye dominance. I violate all the rules about shooting with both eyes open except for unmentionables with an unmentionable red dot thingy. Keep the red dot thingy (won't call it a sight...don't want to offend anyone especially the moderators) close and the dominant eye can't see the dot. Works well for me and modern unmentionables.
Just curious, how does the right hand/trigger finger feel? Does it take a long time to get used to what appears to be an odd wrist angle? What kind of recoil pattern would the shooter have to contend with? And with the offset, the flash is right smack in front of your nondominant eye instead of offset from your face while aiming, does that increase the flinch in flintlock? Has anyone tried this before and does it work. The more I think about it, the more i almost think I'd have a better result just shooting a left handed rifle with my left hand.

There had been a competition shotgun on display at the NRA museum when it was still in DC. a WW2 vet lost sight in his right eye and so a special shotgun was built with a butt stock that met the right shoulder but came up in front of the left eye. The butt stock looked like a fish with a tail extremely curved to one side. The cast off had to be at least the distance between the centers of his eyes. the butt was curved about 1/4 of a circle from the wrist to the butt stock. made nearly a 90 degree turn at the end of the wrist.
Neat project. I was going to comment that Shumway had photographs of similar gun is his Jaeger Rifles book, but I see a copy of the book in the background of your photograph. Imagine that is where you got some your inspiration from.

Actually a man came to gun makers hall at the nmlra fall shoot and ask if someone could make one for him I showed him some guns I built and I was told you couldn't make it without it breaking and the wife said you got that look in your eyes you just got challenged! Yep!
