:hatsoff: Way to go Blizz. Whenever I bring my B/P stuff to the range I get onlookers. I try to answer questions and let em take a shot. Especially the youngsters. GW

Always good to be a black powder ambasidor(sp). Regards Fisher King. :hatsoff:

Blizzard,
Great job! :applause: Makes you feel good
when you can do that.

Is that Blizzard or Buzzard? :rotf: Anyway be sure to intro him to the forum. We might just learn something from him and I'm sure he can learn from us.

Same thing happens to me not having a BP range anywhere. So I go to the public ranges. I almost always draw a crowd, but also hate shooting in front of a crowd. Its one thing if one guy is glancing your way alot while hes also shooting, but when they all drop what their doing and come stand behind you, gets me unnerved sometimes.

Had the AK club as I call them (bunch of young kids wasting ammo) at the range one night, couple of them had their girlfriends with them. The girls came over and started watching me shoot. Well after some nice big white smoke clouds they wanted to try it out. I let em each shoot a few times, they ran over to their boyfriends and I overheard them say "his is cooler, why doesnt yours make all that smoke?" Well, boyfriend didnt like that too much, he says "mine can do this" and proceeds to rip off 20-30 rounds into ....the dirt berm. His girlfriend says "but you didnt hit anything, at least I hit something". :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: I about died.

:hatsoff: Way to go!
It's always fun to watch someone get hooked. Especially if they were one of the modern gun lovers who thought they hated muzzleloaders. I converted a friend who was set on buying an inline. All it took was shooting a couple of my guns and a short history lesson. He loves history and that just sealed the deal.

Keep bringin' 'em in! :)

I find when you get all them people watchin, you really gotta act like you know what you are doing...... :rotf:

I don't mind their watching me shoot at the range. If I notice any who seem to be very interested, I offer them a shot. Most of them accept.

The one thing I've found is you must keep you mind on what your doing while your loading.
The times I've dry-balled have always been due to my being distracting.

Of course, there was the pair of guys who watched me load. One of them turned to the other and said with a sour look on his face, "Those things are just like Fly Fishing!"
I looked over and said "I like Fly Fishing too!".
zonie :)

:hmm: that might be an interesting poll, how many of us prefer flyfishing to other types?

:youcrazy: :shake: Guess the boyfriend is from the "if I can put enough lead into the air I might actully hit something club" :rotf: At 25-30 cents a round he must be rich, crazy, or both :surrender: Why is it that the boooom & plume seem to attract hoards of onlookers?? Keep up the good work, Dave

Went to the range with my hawken a couple weeks ago and there was this kid with a scoped 10-22 shootin' at a small gong out on the 75 yard line. He hit it maybe 1 time out of every 8-10 shots. While he was reloadin' I took my time and sited on the same gong, pulled the trigger and through the cloud of smoke heard a loud clang. The kid looked up and said "Nice Shot" then came over and started askin' questions which I was glad to answer.

Never heard the fly fishing one zonie, but I hear the "those things are just to dangerous" alot. As opposed to their 30 cal sks's.

I had one guy get into a very animated demonstration of someone getting into a truck with a traditional ml'er and it accidentaly going off (was like playing charades), he said "their just to umpredictable". I simply countered by saying with basic weapon safety practices its no more dangerous than your .270.

Traditional definatly has a stigma around here, but people sure do like the smoke and flames.
