Lefty 32 I built for a friend
Thank you. Its tough waiting on the necessary cleaning and shooting supplies to show up. Really wanting to test this one out.Congrats on your new rifle. I got mine from Deercreek also. My disappointment was when my rifle came in, the front sight was bent over, like someone at the factory dropped the gun. It took some measuring and tapping with a copper hammer. The front blade is now as straight as I can get it by eye. I bought a black delrin rod to replace that metal ramrod that came with the gun. The crockett rifle is a perfect fit for me when sighting down the barrel and it is easy to hold. I know I'm going to enjoy shooting it in the spring. I found a .308 rb mould on Ebay and it casts great looking rb. I have some 10 thous. tight weave cotton to make patches. I have several bottles of pyrodex P powder so I'm set on powder and caps. Just waiting on spring for some shooting sessions.

Jedidiah Smith traders has them. It came with a 10/32nd end and I bought an 8/32nd end to install on the other end of the rod. That way I have a threaded end for whatever size brush or accessory I am using.

I will check out the Super Rod from Log Cabin.I'll suggest a Super Rod from The Log Cabin Shop. The synthetic material would be quiet in those thimbles. Both ends are threaded 10-32 for accessories.
I have an M1803 replica that had a clangy ramrod. I used gorilla tape around the rod where it goes into the thimbles. The secret is to not make it a snug fit in the thimbles, as this will scrape the tape. Make your number of wraps just enough to deaden the sound, and the tape will stay in place a long while.
I’ve never partook in a hobby that didn’t make me poor .Between this new rifle and all the do-dads to go with it, its starting to add up in cost
I understand that one. I keep telling my wife this is for health reasons.........keeps me out in the woods and moving during the long winter months.I’ve never partook in a hobby that didn’t make me poor .
That's beautiful. Good job!
Good idea.I bought a 5/16 delron rod from TOW. I slightly tapered the plain end for about 1-2” and it fits perfectly in my Crockett.
Thank you for the reply. Indeed, what you have listed is the reasons why I've wanted a .32 squirrel rifle for many years now. After the initial investment, it should be an easy keeper. I'll most likely be purchasing a .310 round ball mold for it so that should make it even more of an economizer. However, its the purpose of it that really matters. This little rifle should help keep me out in the woods during the winter months chasing those gray bushy tails. All the while scouting for new places to deer hunt next season. Also, the way I see it, us older fellers need to keep moving anyway. So yeah, a Win-Win is the way I see it.ETIPP, You are going to love your new play thing. I wish I had mine sooner . had it about 10 years now,
Shoot it more than any of the others. Like anything else we do , it all adds up with all the doo dads we get
or need. But where else can you have so much fun and pay so little , powder, balls, for something that
uses so little powder. I use 15 grs 3f powder early in the season and after the leavers fall I go to 10 grs.
With no Loss of hits on target. Squirrel , rabbit, paper, tin cans, water filled plastic jugs they are all a hoot
to shoot

It amazes me how much is charged for a replacement/cleaning rod. I go to the hardware store and buy yard markers. $1.50 anywhere and comes in any color you want. I add a rod tip to it, and I have a replacement/cleaning rod for less than 5$. If you're just using it as a rammer, it already has a tip on it. Using your wooden rod is an accident waiting to happen. Semper Fi.Thank you. Its tough waiting on the necessary cleaning and shooting supplies to show up. Really wanting to test this one out.
Where did you find the derlin ramrod to fit your Crocket Rifle?
These markers work really well as range markers too.It amazes me how much is charged for a replacement/cleaning rod.
