Hi,everybody.I am relativly new to muzzleloading.Last year my best friend and hunting partner got a austin halleck mountain 50 cal rifle and after shooting it a few times I decided I wanted to also hunt with blackpowder. We live in anaconda montana and hunt mule deer, elk, whitetail, moose, antelope, bear and bighorns. He took a mule deer with it last year and let me use to take one also.I have been looking for a good rifle and pistol for a year now but here in montana there are no special seasons for muzzleloaders and not many people use them so finding them has not been easy.Recently a friends relative passed away and I was told there were three blackpowder guns that I could buy from his estate. They look like nice pieces but I dont know anyone who can tell me for sure. There is a pistol which is a ruger. It is stainless steel and says old army,it is a 45 cal and is marked made in the 200th year of american liberty. It has an extra cylinder and appears unfired and is still in the box wrapped in plastic. There are two rifles. One is a 54 cal and has two barrels.By pushing a lever in front of the trigger the barrels turn. The only markings on the gun is L.Day on the lock.It also appears to be unfired and is very pretty. The other rifle says C.V.A. made in U.S.A.is a 45 cal and has silver attachments. It also appears to be unfired. The asking price for the three guns is 1500.00.Can anyone tell me anything about these guns. Are they worth the asking price. Can they shoot maxis or are they ball shooters, thanks.
