New Handgonne

Just gave my wife a beautiful .50 handgonne custom made by Freekforge. We had an awesome afternoon shooting it. *Highly* recommend it.

A gonne is just a little more dedication to the sport than I have.
Sure I would fire it a few times just for, but after that it would just sit in the gun safe while more accurate guns with locks get used.

Now don't get me wrong. I know they occupy a solid niche in the history of the gun, so they do have value in the collectors safe and museums. I just don't see owning one as a shooter.

Cynthia, it's actually pretty low on investment. No flints, none of that painstaking...aiming. But plenty of satisfying bang and smoke...and clean up.

But what to name it... Anyone have any ideas?

I just "shot" my new gonne from Freekforge as well. I hosted a shooting event, so it was too busy to proof it with ball, as a result I just shot a blank charge with a bit of patch material as a wad. it was good fun and I can't wait to proof it and shoot RB from it.
We used a bit of cannon fuse, but I am keen on getting an "S" curve and match to set it off.
I'm thinking to brown it with LMF cold brown.

But they are one of the most fun and challenging of the early arms IMO.

I've actually had great results with my Handgonnes once I know their limitations. Plus they are real easy to clean.
