Not really. Texicans were Americans who had immigrated to Mexican Texas and became Mexican citizens. Many of them opposed war with Mexico until the situation became so bad they were forced to choose independence from the Centralist government of Santa Anna.
Texians were what they called themselves as they fought for and won independence and continued to call themselves during the period of the Republic.
Had ancestors in both categories.
BTW -- am really liking the sound of Texian in light of all the stuff going on nationally these days! :shocked2:
