Im still kinda new here but have been reading the forum for awhile, All i can say is yall have inspired me. Over the next couple days i will be posting some of the things i have made.
This is the first horn that i made. I made it from a kit. the horn is just that a horn but the scrimshaw is great my hat is off to a forum member possum73

You are correct a little color would be nice. i am thinking of scraping and doing a little shaping on the neck and dye it but i an still debating on it. my next horn i am going to use copper sulfate to dye the horn.
What would be a good way to add some color now that its finished?

I like old ships, there is just something about ships with sails. Actually I made a couple small brass knapping hammers and traded one to possum73 and in the trade i asked if he could do a little work on my powder horn and i couldnt think of a thing in the world to put on it. i thought of a couple ideas and a ship was one of them. so it was kinda a surprise to me and what a nice surprise

You can take any wax off of it with mineral spirits and put some Aqua Fortis on it and heat with a hair dryer. Repeat if you want darker color.

I believe you have. It still puts a smile on my face every time I look at it. Thanks again.
