New Horn

Too much work and no time to play...

Anyrate....gotten pretty rusty. Here is a new horn that I made for my brass barreled smoothbore. Going to fully scrim it tomorrow.

I agree. But if he wants to scratch on it, scratch away. It is his to personalize.

Been forcing the patina as the scrim work is being done. I want about a 40 year old look to it. Finished roughing out the scrim. Need to detail it out.

I did it all freehand, with a sail needle. I want this to look like a early original....so the usual layout and such was not on the plan. No Coulter tool this time.

I like the color. It's a good use of a horn with clouds in the natural color you started with.
Seems to add to the aged look.

I like the workmanship. However, I think the base plug would look more proportional if it was a low dome. The large mass of wood with a square profile makes it look chunky...
