I had a Black and Tan when I was a boy, but one day he snapped at a neighbor lady we called Aunt Hazel. He didn't know her, and was warning her to stay away. So my dad took him to the pound. End of story. Except years later her grandson Jay and I were left alone at her house while she and my Mom went to town. When she came home, all the keys on her piano were removed. (we were trying to see how the piano worked) I never was welcome after that, but I didn't lose any sleep over it. Jay and I remained friends and had lots of other adventures in the Settlement. Never had another dog until I was grown.
That’s the saddest thing I’ve heard about all week. Well, accept for the piano key removal part. That was hilarious.

A full belly plus a car ride and he is out!

Labs are great dogs. We've had a rescue black lab for about 10 years now (she's 11). Got her from the vet clinic where my daughter works when the owner never came to get her after extensive surgical repair needed from, he said, being hit by a car. I personally think she was beaten as she had some issues we had to work through with her that I think were abuse related.

I can see why labs are consistently among the top three dog breeds people get.

I would happily beat anyone I found abusing a dog.

I personally will not send money to the ASPCA because they also stick their nose into hunting/animal rights vs just applying themselves to animal welfare, but I am very affected by what I see in their commercials. I've told my wife that I would love to do the same thing to those owners that starve, beat, let chains grow into their necks, and otherwise abuse those animals. In "my world" there would be no quarter for such individuals.
