When is the New Jersey whitetail rut start. Just moved here and rhis will be my first year deer hunting here.

Right now, it's the second(permit)part of bow season here in NJ. I believe by what I'm seeing the woods the rut started about a week ago here in the northern part of the state. The temp. as been in the 30's at night for about the last two weeks and the time change last week should have had some affect on the rut.

Muzzleloader season varies between Deer management zones. Most zones it runs as follows: Nov 27, 28, Dec 11, 12, Dec 16-23 and Dec 26-30 2006
and Jan 1-5 2007. To hunt with a muzzleloader requires a Firearms hunting license(27.50) a Rifle permit(10.50) and a muzzleloading permit (28.00). To get the rifle permit you will need to take a state test.

Welcome to NJ the most corrupt, anti-gun, anti-hunting state in the country.
Remember in NJ, a Brown Bess is considered an assault weapon. (you can put a bayonet on it.)

Frosty...The rut is going strong. I grunted in a nice 8 point last week from 30 yards out heading in the complete opposite direction, turned right around and came directly to my stand. 11/20 starts MZ in the zone I hunt. Doe only for the first week and you need a doe before a buck can be taken.

If you don't already have a rifle permit it's probably to late for this season.

The rut is in full swing in northern NJ.(Sussex county)
I just can in from my backyard and had three does come out of the big swamp behind my house followed by a nice 6 pointer. His nose was on the ground right behind them. I could hear him grunting. :shocked2: He stopped broadside,a perfect shoot and me with nothing but a bunch of firewood in my hands. I was standing less them 10 yards from him.
He could have care less, he wanted those does. WOW, why does this always happen when you don't have a gun or bow. :cursing:

Thanks for the info. I already have my rifle permit. just waiting on ml season to start.
