Hey all! Here's a new one, 1084 steel with curly maple scales satined with aqua fortis... that stuff is the best for maple, its beautiful! Its around 8 inches overall and a very good cutter. I gave it to a friend of mine, I'll admit I had a hard time letting it go  . So what do you think?

I like the blade shape, full, thick tang and what it's made of but don't care for the small size and shape of the handle or that it is smooth.
Pretty but not real functional for breaking down a moose, bear or caribou.

Nice job -- you are doing quite well and progressing nicely  .

Thank you all for the compliments! She is a very good friend, and one of the best shots you will ever see! I live no where near Virgina and have never seen a caribou in my life, so I think I'm ok

I was concerned about loosing grip when the smooth small handle is wet with blood and fat seriously cutting ones self as you slide forward unto the edge.
The same would be true of breaking down deer, black bear ,elk or antelope.
The comment was given from the safety aspect as the knife is very pleasant to look at.

Looks like a very nice knife. What I like about it from the photos is the unusual pin placement. Makes it unique.Have you ever considered checkering the scales? It would look classy and add a grip advantage.

Understood. The handle shape locks your hand in well, so hopefully it will be a good game processer ! Thanks

Thank you guys! I have, I'm looking into tools to checker my scales.

Checkering looks nice, and helps gripping, but I think at this time in your progression there are more important factors for you spend time and money on. Something maybe for the future, but just not critical at this point. IMHO.

Nice work on the knife, especially the blade. Was that all free-hand with the grinder?

Looks like you're just one state north of me.

Your friend deserves better, have him ship it to me for proper disposal and make him a better one!

I like the knife, especially so the handle. As Fisher71 pointed out, the placement of the pins is a nice, unique touch.

The State of Jefferson - I like that (had to look it up).

Thank you! I made a jig I use for most of the grinding, but after heat treat I polish it back up free hand.. which terrifies me every time  Haha, looks like it

haha, if you want one ill make one and ship it to... but you will have issues trying to get that knife away from her

Thank you! I got tired of 2 pins all in the same place every time, I wanted to mix it up a bit.
Dont even get me started on all the reasons for State of Jefferson... Ill go on for hours... if only it would actually work...

I do everything in my power to keep my knife hand clean.
