just got this new lyman gph and overall fit and finish is pretty nice. Only concern is this hole between where the stock was inlet for the barrel and lock. Is this something I should be concerned about?

does the ramrod fit into that area. if not fill it in with acra glass bedding compound.

it's not that uncommon in mass-produced stocks. I'd put the barrel back in the stock & forget that little space is there.

my opinion & yer welcome to it.

I wouldn't panic. Clean up the burrs, take the lock and triggers out and clean up the wood burrs in there too, then hit the entire area with sealer.

Thanks for the input. Going to put it together and hopefully get to test it out this week.

Make sure you clean the barrel really well before you do, Lyman puts some thick, nasty grease in there. Brake cleaner works very well for that initial cleaning. I would run a piece of scotch brite pad on your jag as well to ease the sharpness of the rifiling.
