Hello all,

Glad to be a member on this forum. Looking to learn more about blackpowder shooting. My interests are shooting period firearms of the civil war era and settlement of the Northwest Territory. Thanks for having me.
Man, are you in for a treat!

You are in the Deep South Region of the North-South Skirmish Association! All of our weekend competitions ("skirmishes") are held at Brierfield Ironworks State Park, which is just south of Birmingham, Alabama, except the November skirmish which is held in Eva, Tennessee.

The first skirmish of the 2024 season is coming up next month - February 23-25, at Brierfield. My team is hosting. Here is the "invitation" (schedule of events) to give you a feel for what goes on at your typical regional skirmish:

There are lots of shooters from Tennessee in the region!

I highly encourage you to come down to the skirmish and see what it's all about. It's best to come down and visit either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning because team competition starts up Saturday around noon and people are very busy then and it's hard to talk with new folks then. But you'll definitely want to stick around and see the team shooting also!

Shoot us an email and we will get in touch with you!

Thank you for the invite. I have sent in my membership dues to the N-SSA. Going to be a Palmetto Sharpshooter once my membership card arrives. Looking forward to shooting in a skirmish.

Hi Patio!

Glad you signed up! Did you sign up as an individual membership?

The Palmetto Sharpshooters are not in the Deep South Region. The Palmetto Guards are though!

You can certainly join a team outside the region, but if you want to shoot on a team that attends Deep South Region skirmishes, you'd want to join a Deep South Region team:
