Hi, I just joined this forum, I was interested in getting started with black powder. I’m particularly interested in getting a revolutionary war musket like the 1766 Charleville musket. Does anyone have suggestions on making one from a kit from Dixie gun works, or, Pedersoli or buying one for about half the price from military Heritage. Com and drilling out the vent hole. I’m no stranger to woodworking or metal fab , finishing a kit is not out of my wheelhouse. I just need to know the best direction to go on this.

Welcome from Maine. Look at committee of safety muskets also. Ask in the smoothbore section or Gun builders bench for the best response.
