Welcome from southern Vermont! Tell us about your smoothbore.
Thank you all for the welcome! @oldwood, my barrel was made by John Getz about 25 years ago. It's 48 inches long and swamped, in .50 smooth. I found a man in Penn. for the curly cherry stock blank. I bought a book, "The Art Of Building The Pennsylvania Long Rifle."

The smoothbore will have a Lehigh Valley style. I have rough sawn the lumber, and further trimmed the forestock. I have inlet the barrel and breech plug, drilled for the ramrod, and have inlet the ramrod entry thimble. I have dovetailed the barrel and drilled the stock for the barrel retaining pins. I have inlet and riveted the nosecap. I just ordered a buttplate and triggerguard from Mike Brooks. I am a tall guy, and my trigger pull is near 16". The stock has about a 3/8 " cast-off.

The lock was made by Jim Chambers about 23 years ago, a "Round Faced Virginia" (?). It's in pieces (I polished the pan and the part of the frizzen tha covers the pan), but I think I can get it back together with the picture that Mr. Chambers' wife sent me. I made a simple trigger out of steel stock.

As you can see, I will have little to offer in the way of expertise, but hope to learn a lot from you all, bless you.
