New member, help requested.

Hello All, Thank you for including me in your Forums and Group. I am not new to muzzleloaders, started shooting sidelocks when I was about 10 years old with my Dad and an older friend that deer hunted with us. We used Thompson Center for the most part. As time lapsed I changed to "Modern Muzzleloaders" and got into other realms of the shooting sports and firearms. Well, a couple years ago I was gifted an older Thompson Center Renegade in .50 cal. I believe this barrel has a 1:48 twist. This rifle is very serviceable. Well long story short, we had a flood and I lost all of my muzzleloader components. So I am looking for some load recommendations from other's that may have this same rifle. I also need a screw to attach the front of the trigger guard to the stock. Now to my wish list, in search of a set of sights that TC used on their .54 cal Hawken Rifles, as I am told they will fit this barrel. I had a .45 cal Hawken when I was 12 y/o, it was heavy for me but I shot it well and could hit a pie pan at 125 yards nearly every shot from standing. Those sights had a bead front post and the rear sight had a V-notch with circle at the bottom. Any help with any of this is appreciated. Looking to get back into shooting a real smoke pole. Try Track or the Wolf, they should and will have about anything you’ll need to get you going again. Thier very friendly and are willing to help. As far as load recommendations, I would start with about 60 grains of fff goex, a 490 roundball and a .015 patch lubed with oxyoke, bore butter, crisco and other patch lubes that are popular. You will have have to experiment of course, but that’s what I’d start with. Use sandbags to shoot off of, supporting the front muzzle at its farthest point, and another sandbag under the buttstock. Adjust the height by diggin the buttstock or muzzle in the sand. Start at 25 yards, when you can get one ragged hole or close to it, then move out to 50 and so forth. Welcome. And yes TC's are 1: 48 twist. As far as TC parts I recommend you try these guys. You need to call however as not all parts are online. Good luck.

I am confident that I will be ok. All of your advise and guidance will just shorten my efforts. Many Thanks all! Thinking I will fill my firearm deer tags with a smoke pole this year!!! I still have confidence in a side lock, I have cleanly taken deer with them in the past, my youth actually. STOKED!!! Also looking forward to participating in a local ML Club's shoots when I can be there.
