Hello, my name is Stephen and I’m new to this forum. I built a Flintlock a couple years ago, but my dad just gave me this that he apparently acquired in the 80s and I was trying to get some more information on it. I was also looking for somebody that can install a new front site as this used to be leaned up against a Stone Fireplace and I’m sure at some point it got knocked over and it broke off. I’ve been going through threads, and I have taken what I think are the appropriate pictures to identify the rifle from what I read. It is a Northstar Northwest trade gun that might have been made by Curly. If somebody can point me in the direction of some better information on this musket and may know somebody that can assist me with repairing the front site I would very much like to use the rifle as I think it has never been shot. Thanks for adding me.

Welcome from Upstate New York's Central-Leatherstocking Region.

I believe the sitting fox cartouche marked sideplate was from Ron Franks . . . a very fine flintlock rendition of a simple trade gun. Curly G. usually marked his locks with "LOTT" rather than the sitting fox mark and the buttplate would have been nailed on. https://sittingfoxcustommuzzleloaders.com/

My dad said when he was traveling around the country in the 80s, it was a small kind of reenactment village in Pennsylvania is where it was made, I don’t know if that’s where sitting fox was out of at the time. I thought the sitting fox was just a mark that was put on trade guns. I saw some talk about the Star on the back of the lock and I thought that is how are you identified a Curly gun.

Welcome from The Woodlands!
I go to Huntsville as a Texas Army Colonel for Sam Houston's Birthday Celebration every March 2nd.
Plus, I spent many a weekend at SHSU, to see my gf, back in the '70's.
Should have just stayed at A&M...
But, I love Huntsville. It's a great little town!
Is the Jolly Fox still serving drinks? The age was 18 when I was there. :ghostly:
