Yes, the hunting is good! Many people who hunt the western states will say the general season hunting here is terrible. They may be right, but I don't have experience elsewhere so I have no reference and think the Uintas are awesome. Currently, I'd like to have a plains style rifle in 54 or 58 cal in slow twist so I can stuff lots of BP in there for fun I'm not sure if I'd rather go half or full stock. I really want a flintlock, but the budget isn't quite there for a high end kit or finished rifle that has a quality lock, so it might be a percussion.

Gotta love the Muzzleloader hunting. Takes ya back to the basics and makes ya appreciate

yup! I've got a guy offering to sell me his 1980s cabelas 58 hawken in percussion for a decent price an it looks to be in great shape.

The simplicity is why I'd like to go flint. I know knapping flint is an art and will take a lifetime to figure out, but I already make my own BP, so why not nap flint too?
