I am looking for a French and Indian War Rifle kit or resources in how to build from scratch. The motivation for this is the movie "Last of the Mohicans". I understand that Nattie Bumpo's Killdeer is not an accurate representation of rifles of the period. I want to build a representative sample of the period.

AH welcome to one of the most famous, or perhaps infamous, rabbit-holes in all of flintlock riflery. Beware, for this rabbit hole has rabbits that are killers with "nasty, pointy teeth" (Monty Python reference)

Short answer, you probably want to copy the Edward Marshall rifle, if you want what is currently thought to be the best surviving example. Whether that rifle is a true example of the majority of what you might have observed back then, is another matter. Some say the John Schreit rifle is a better choice. James Fenimore Cooper wrote about Killdeer, but another point of debate is would Hawkeye have had such and if yes, would his companion Hurry Harry March have also had one.?

Here is an article about rifles in general during the F&I War:

Rifles of The Frontier Partisans ; Rifles in The French and Indian War

This accompanying article is about the Edward Marshall rifle itself:

The Edward Marshall Rifle

The "nice" thing is that you can adjust some of the characteristics to suit you, and not necessarily be wrong in what you have when done.
