New peep sight.

I installed a peep sight on my Woodsrunner. I have not shot it yet. I was unable to see the rear sight or rather which rear sight to use. I installed a new front sight but may have to get something taller.
I know it is backwards but I will go with the lowest position at this time.
I have used these Skinner sights on lever actions and have a selection of apertures.
I did not want to move the sight forward.
I hunt with this gun.

Altho I do not know how correct, I have done much the same with my 62 fowler. My eyes ... after 4 surgery's... are not what they could be so I took a thumb screw, drilled a hole in the middle of the flat, then filed the flat round for a ghost ring effect. I like your innovation of using a skinner aperture.

In low light you will do better to just use the ring without the aperture.

I hunt evenings most of the time, I paint my front sight white and can see it in very low light through my peep, it is almost like cheating I can see it so well. If I am hunting in the mornings or at midday, I blacken my front sight because a white front sight disappears in the sunlight.

I'd like to do this, but I don't think my ability to drill a hole square to the surface is Good enough for a peep site. Did you use a drill press or drill by hand?

It was done on a mill by a cousin.

I have a similar sight on another rifle. To expand some, on my rifle, the best position was with the knurled peep pointing 180 degrees away from my eye. The knurled peep can unscrew and be re-attached on the eye side so that the elevation does not change, and the sight picture is the best.
