Goodwill find today. Old 8 quart iron kettle. A wee bit dirty, but inside is nicely polished, not the rough sand cast surface of today's iron ware.

Nice. Got a nice late 18th C. tea kettle at one myself once and I don't even drink tea!

Guess you don't NEED a lid...
 
Hey Alden, lids only keep the flies and other protein from getting in! :haha: :thumbsup:
 
A nice 10" raised lip lid would be nice to put some heat on top of the road kill stew.
 
Oh yeah, several ways you could go with that one. Makes me just a bit jealous! :thumbsup:
 
Got one very similar to yours, found mine in a little roadside antique shop. I've boiled up several pots of potatoes over the camp fire.
 
IF you want a lid to make a deep dutch oven, call the LODGE OUTLET STORE and tell them the EXACT size that you need.

I know 2 guys that got lids from there (including a lid for a 16" spider) & at a low price, too. = NICE folks!
