I took a couple of 'non shooter' friends out this week. Neither had even seen a flintlock before.
They had a blast! I put some clay birds out at an easy range for the rifle, but one fellow was still having trouble conecting. I loaded the fowler for him and let him soot one 'on the ground'. The bird turned to dust at his shot! He was sold! They can't stop talking about it.
I'm gonna put together a little woodswalk for next week and invite some folks who don't shoot ML. Can't wait.

Nice! The more folks that get a "kick" out of our sport, the better. I wish that I could have been there to see their faces :shocked2: . We should all follow your lead and introduce more folks to SMOKE :applause:  .

If they like to attack evil clay birds, see if you can find / make a clay bird hanger out of rebarr. The action leagues use them and they would make an easily identifiable target for a woods walk.

Good job once again, Dave

I used a masonry bit and slowly drilled holes in the approximate center of some clay pigeons. Did it so the clay surface was flat to the drill press as well. Then when my buddy and I went out to a local range that has wood target holders, I brought a portable power drill and used deck screws in the "pigeon holes" (with washers) to hold them against the wood. Careful not to over tighten or the clay will snap. :(

I also have a 3x6 foot 3/4" (?) PVC pipe frame I made that has leg that clip to it so that it can free stand anywhere levelish. Just tie strings to that and then tie whatever to the strings. The frame is actually one I made for my photography business to hold a nylon panel. I put a connector into the center of each side, so it can be taken apart into two more manageable pieces.

Two nails spaced about 3" apart will hold a clay bird without drilling it. This week we just stuck em in the snow!

Great idea...now I know what to do with my larson reflectors! I'm also a pro photog...check-out the website: www.bytheseaphotography.com and let me know what you think. Yes, that is a Speed Graphic and a Crown Graphic (our Dad's) in the Bio page...guess it's a smal world!

Cut my teeth on Kodabromide paper, Decktol and glacial acidic acid. How long you been in the business?? Stay in touch via the web. All the best, Dave

Very nice website and images. Couldn't pay me enough to do weddings though, but that's where most of the money is. And a good photographer is worth it. A lot of hard work as you know. I'm not allowed to post my website here. I posted it for my photojournalism section and Civil War reenactment photos, but as there are "other" image on it, it was removed. I have been shooting pics on and off for many years. I have a couple of Speed Graphics in my collection of cameras, but never shot with them other then some expired Polaroid film for fun. Did shoot some in High School. Nice sized negative.

If you have ever seen the movie "A League of Their Own," you can find me in a brown suit with a Speed Graphic in my hand taking a photo of Madonna and Rosie O'Donnal.

Sorry, off the subject at hand.
