Nice looking rifle, Sniper. Is that a piece of cherry. Beautiful incised carving.

I don't see any J&S Hawkens in your collection.

BTW, do you know which trigger guard this rifle has on it? I like the looks of it.

beautiful, i know steve ,he is indeed one of the best , im betting that the sqs.are in deep ka-ka- in your woods

Thanks Cooner54. Yea, its Cherry. Steve does great carving in both metal and wood. You two would make one heck of a team. :hatsoff:
The trigger guard is more like a John Sheetz, but the butt plate is a lot wider then his. Yer Hawken ain't goin nowheres. :youcrazy: :nono:

Really nice squirrel rifle! That southern rifle immediately above it is very pretty too...what's the story on that one?
:hmm: looks a lot like my Sells .54 I named "Zilpha".

I bought it off Gunbroker. Guy said it hadn't been fired in about 25 years. A LITTLE bore scrubbin required :shake:, but no rust. :)
7/8" x 42" .50cal Orion bbl. I converted it to flint. Neetly engraved on the top flat "Roger E. Sells XXI". Mint condition and shoots sub 1" groups @ 50 yards.
I should of, but didn't :cursing:. the guy had a MATCHING pistol in .45 cal. :(

Good grief, Sniper! Yer about as gun poor as meself! Fine lookin' collection of shooters!

Yes I saw that rifle in the white. I was up at Steve's place picking up a .54 Southern Rifle thats a real beauty.

The picture does not show just what a neat little rifle that is. It is a real fine fire arm. The other fact is that that it was made way out in the sage brush behind a butte. It is at the end of a trail going into Hidden Valley.

Sniper68 - Now I remember...you posted a photo of it when you bought it and said you were converting it to flint. Next time I talk to Roger I'll mention "Rifle #21"

Nice collection; they all are beauties, that's for sure

sniper,
Great looking group of B/P rifles, both
F/L and C/L.
snake-eyes:thumbsup:

sniper68, that's a fine looking bunch of rifles there!!
The cherry stock and carving are beautiful.
Can you tell me more about how you made that nice gunrack?

As I'm planing on moving soon, it's temporary. Two precut oak thresholds at Home Depot, some $1.99 es coat hooks from Walmart and some felt padding on the hooks...

Thank you very much!
I wasn't sure if the wood was available commercially or if you cut it and routed the edges yourself. Sure makes a great looking gun rack though.
We got a security system installed in the house last week so the ML's are gonna come out of hiding and go on the wall now. They wouldn't fit in the safe. :shake:
