Hello!Hello from central PA
Hey I’m in Berks!Welcome from Montgomery county PA
I actually came across this website trying to research what a decent flintlock would be to use for hunting white tails!Welcome. You'll find PLENTY of info here!
I have some other hobbies that may stay in front but I do see myself potentially becoming quite addicted. I have a couple of local buddies that are willing to help me out. I just have to find the “right for me” flintlock first.Welcome to the forum from Western North Carolina.
Ok, so you are ‘trying to get into flintlocks for hunting’. A good first step, admitting you have a pending addiction. That said, assume you are planning to hunt with a flintlock next year, as this year’s PA flintlock season is right on top of you, so there is plenty of time to learn.
Your learning curve could potentially be a lot quicker if you can find a local club or mentor. Fortunately, most traditional muzzleloader shooters/hunters are more than willing to help someone get started, so finding local help shouldn’t be that difficult, particularly where you are located. You could also tell us about your gun, or the one you want to get, or just ask questions. This crowd is easily entertained.
Thank you! First things first I’m trying to figure out what a decent flintlock would be to buy for white tail hunting that would have a range of 75-100 yards and what caliber would be optimal for that.Welcome from N. Central Pa. Fifty yrs. hunting the Pa. flint deer season.......Ask away.
