Bill in LI, NY. Recent acquisition of a .44 cal Euroarms FL with no info but what I can glean from this Forum. Retired Army, FA, AVN, Hunter Safety Instructor for NY, Composit Rifle Shooter, NRA Instructor, Bowhunter
Looking for any info on care (cleaning) and feeding of my new Firearm.
Glad to find like minded Brothers and Sisters and pleased to make your acquaintance.

Welcome to the Forum! This is the place to learn about flintlocks, lots of knowledgeable members willing to help.
Read as many of the old postings as you can, they will answer questions you haven't even thought of yet.
Enjoy the adventure, it is a long and exciting trail!

Welcome!

Drop down to "Flintlock Rifles". We'll get you off on the right foot.

You'll need real black powder for priming and main charge - substitutes/synthetics do not have the proper qualities for ignition. In NY that can be a problem. Usually requires having it shipped direct to you and the onerous HazMat fee. But it keeps well so get a bunch to lessen the hurt.

Welcome! I'm a newbie to black powder as well. Your going to love this forum! These guys are eager to help, guide, offer advice and tips (secrets), and will keep us on a safe learning curve. Go to the Articles section as Stumpkiller advised. Read Paul V's outstanding article "FLINTLOCKS: HOW TO SHOOT THEM!" I read it twice, highlighted the best tips, and copied for hard print.
Your going to like it here brother, and welcome home!

Hi Bill, I finally figured out how to reliably get my flint rifle to fire after reading the info here. I'm also retired Army (AR, AV) 1995-2015.

Lots to see and enjoy here.

Welcome Bill, I 'm from Levittown but I don't shoot flint. If I can help you with anything else let me know.I do have a lb of 4f I don't use but after reading here you may not use it. 3f is fine for most people.

Sam: I’m in Williston Park. Once it warms up a little let’s get together and make some smoke.
