Well I got it, and have gone out to shoot it twice.

It's surprisingly accurate. I removed the rear sight and filed the front one down, because I want more of a shotgun/musket configuration.

Even with no rifling and no rear sight, I can hit coke cans at 25 yards no problem.

Call me surprised. I honestly didn't think a smoothbore could do that.

I haven't tried shot with it because the thought of spending $50+ on shot makes my stomach ache, but I am eager to see if I can hit some clays with it.

I refinished the stock with tung oil and replaced the graphite ramrod with hickory and it's looking pretty good, too!

Cut open some cheap shotgun shells and use the shot out of them. I've done that before. Throw the smokeless powder away of course.

A $4.00 box of 12 gauge shells should give you 50 shots or more.

I was looking at shot prices on Midway and saw that they have 3.5# bags for $8. That's roughly the same price per pound as a 25# bag, but it's a bit easier on the wallet if you just want to experiment.

during the past year I've bought about a dozen 25lb bags from a couple different people who had quit reloading shotgun shells...#2/4/5/6/7.5/8/9.

And if anybody can find boxes of good quality .12ga shells for $4.00/box, buy all they have in stock...they're twice that price or higher and climbing.
