I picked this up not long ago after ogling it for weeks but holding off because I prefer to shoot long guns left handed. And the fact that it is actually a .53 bore. But the price came down to where I just couldn't resist so I bought it.

Fact is, I reeealy like this rifle. It shoulders great and I can shoot it just fine left handed. Every bit as good as my lefty GPR flinter, truth be told.

The .53 bore is what finally pushed me into casting. Yeah I can buy .520 balls but what the heck, it's just one more thing I can keep out of trouble doing.

Anyway here she is:

Those guns have a really comfortable stocks on them. This is a true hunter gun. Great buy!

I shot a friends Hawken in a match last weekend and was really impressed with how the rifle balanced and felt while shooting. I truly fell in love with it and will be looking for one in the near future as he won't sell his (was a gift from his wife). Thanks for sharing.

beautiful rifle paul I had one years ago I picked up second hand the bbl. was pitted I rebarreled it to a 58 always shot great.

GREAT rifles. I lived in NM for 30 years. The rifles were made in Santa Fe by Western Arms. I have owned four - all excelent shooters. Still have two. One of the best looking mountain man rifles ever made IMHO. Mine shoots best with .520 ball, .015 patch, homebrewed lube and 82 grains FF Goex. Best of luck on your new rifle. Strawstalker
