Bought a Pietta '51 Navy Colt from Buffalo Bills last week. It arrived today. Looks to be a pretty nicely made gun. The engraving on the cylinder has been done with that wipe on wipe off Gold finish. Looks pretty nice. It doesn't show up too well in the pics though. Hope to get out tomorrow and try it out.

Is it a .36 or a .44? The 51 Navy has to be the best balanced revovler, in my opinion. Good shooting.

Very nice Rebel.
Oh no, Im getting that uncontrollable feeling again,(that I need to buy another Colt).

good looking gun reb.i have always thought the 51 was among the most stylish and with the best feel and point ,most are extrem accurate-

Thanks guys. It has been a lot of years since i had a'51. I agree, they are the most natural pointing handguns there are. Anyone no if the front sights are screwed in or a press fit in the barrel, and if anyone makes a taller one to bring the POI down to POA? I know most all the Colts seem to shoot 15"-18" high.

most are pressed in ,what i do is ,i take a piece of brass rod stock that i use for knife handles then remove the stock sight and drill the hole to take my brass rod and jb weld a piece in it will hold and will not shoot out. you can file it to poa then shape it the way you want.i can send you a piece if you want it,-

Thanks 2B's. I should be able to find something that will work. I thought about putting a blade sight on it like the '60's and '61's have. I even thought about having someone cut a dovetail and install a drift adjustable Rem. front sight on it. But i think i better shoot it first and see Where it does shoot. May luck out and not need to mess with it.

i made a front sight from a silver dime for my remmy and dove tailed it they are e-z-to cut all you need is a good 3corner file-

A 3 corner file, some skill, the nerve to start filing on a Good barrel, and the money to pay a gunsmith to do it for me.

Looks great your new toy.I like the Gold finish on the cylinder.
Hope she shoots like she looks.
:hatsoff:

I may have one in .44 here too later this week or early next. Not sure yet if i will keep it or not. If it turns out to be a '60 Army instead of a '51 Navy i will most likely keep it. If it is a Navy i will probably resell it. The guy wasn't sure and i didn't see a pic of it so i won't know till it gets here.

dont pay any one :shake: i have done hundreds of dove tails by hand i even bought a little jig from mid-way . i`ll cut one for you if you decide that is what you want but i would advise you to square the hammer notch to get an optimum sight picture.
