No kidding about the bowling balls...I've never owned such a large caliber gun and I was definitely surprised when I looked down the bore. More like a cannon than a rifle...

Does anyone know of any reputable engravers who work on flintlocks as a specialty? I would eventually like to get some of the hardware on this rifle engraved.

That is a beautiful rifle! Personally I think your "mistake" of not getting a patch box was actually the best thing. You don't need it and wood looks better without it. I'm sure it will shoot great! TVM makes a great rifle.... I have one of Matt's. It's a long rifle in .36 caliber..... Which you could use as buckshot in yours!
Anyway, enjoy the rifle!

Beautiful rifle. I know TVM offers options to upgrade the wood/finish on their rifles. What is the combination used in yours?

I believe I ordered Super Premium Maple++ with dark brown stain. I had originally wanted a very light stain but they convinced me that a dark stain wouldn't hide the grain and would provide better contrast against the brass furniture. I am really pleased with the way it came out, especially since the wood upgrade was the one area where I really splurged.

Chunky lock panels are NOT an error or a mistake; they are just simply what they are. I've seen the same thing on a few original rifles and on rifles from some of the better known builders. So one cannot say that having them a bit larger is NOT HC/PC unless they include certain originals and some built by those in favor. When mud is thrown around a little gets on just about everyone.

You have a beautiful rifle; and not an Americanized Jaeger but a German Jaeger which is a different animal. For those who don't want the German gun there is always the Christian Springs alternative which is a fine Americanized Jaeger. Good shooting.
