just bought me a new gun. its an old pedersoli kentuc feels very good in the shoulder going to shot it tomorrow, sure hope its a tack driver.

the only problem with it is there is a chunk of the stock near the lock missing. i think one of the chaps at the gun club is a wizz with stocks so im going to see what he says.

Let us know how you do, Norfolk.

And details, please! Caliber? Whatcha shootin' out of it??

We're real busybodies here, at least when it comes to what everybody else is shootin'....

Eric

Good deal? They are going for $900.00 new at Dixie
I have the same one in 45 and with 70 gr 3f,.433 ball and.010 patch, It is a one holer at 25 yds.

man talk about fun to shoot. i thought my hair was on fire at one point (everyone at the range said they could smell it). im shooting at 25yrds .445 ball with a 0.15 patch have tried it with 48grns and 24grns. next time i think im going to try 30grns.
man when i didnt rest it i flinched so bad i never hit the target!!! i guess im going to get it in time. on a differant note i shot rather well with my charled moore pistol.
the rifle was a very good deal only cost me £110

WOW! how can they sell them at that price that is so close to TVM and other similar outfits it would seem to be a no brainer to by American if going for a new gun... Remarkable.

uh, you'll notice this thread was started by a fellow shooter in the UK. It's not as simple as calling up a custom or semi-custom maker in the US and ordering a gun.
Regards,
Mike

tell me about it. gun law in the uk is a pain. you have to state what you want and if you change your mind you have to send you license off to the police. they make the change and then the gun that you have seen in the shop has sold!!

what they should do is say right your alowed 6 guns of any cal but only 6 and if you want anymore you just ask

I think TG was refering to the fact that the Dixie was only a few hundred dollars more than one made in the USA verus the imports, not that the OP got a bad deal..at a 100 pounds and it shoots well, I would say he got a good deal

Regardless, the digression to cost of import vs. cost of semi-custom was not relevant to the OP's thread. Personally, I'm sensitive to the challenges he has to overcome just to acquire and shoot a muzzleloader. I hope he continues to keep us updated on his progress.

Mike

Norfolk, I'm sure you've been asked this in the forum before, but I haven't come across you yet. I know the situation for shooters in the UK is different (if not non-existent) but what are the laws for black powder? I'm just curious; I can't imagine living under UK gun laws.

Thanks,
Caleb.

laws for black powder are a pain in the backside too. you need to have a licence for the powder and then you need a little letter saying you can transport it too. but before you can get a licence you need to have a storage box made to the required specs.

i just need to get over the flinching. practice, practice, practice!!!!

Well exfreekingscuse me for digressing, I was just surprised at the current retail price of these guns vs my opinion on the value and comperable domestic gunsvalue, I was not addressing anything to do with internatuional gunlaw differences I will try hard to stay within your acceptable guidelines in the future, I hate to see you inconvienienced.....NOT :idunno:

My pedersoli kentucy shoots well, and talk about a deal-I bought it used about 5 years ago from a pawn shop for $60! Needed a little tlc.but it cleaned up nicely. Show us some pics when u can.

i must say im getting over the flinching and it sure is a tack driver. i have found though that the lock is not a pedersoli lock as it has been fitted in an odd way. im going to email a pedersoli dealer in the uk to find out the cost of a new lock, lock screws and a stock.

mind you i might just have a look on track of the wolf
