Picked this guy up in trade at a gun store yesterday. Of course, it's .58, and doesn't look like it's been really fired at all. A light ring in the hammer cup tells me it was dry fired a few times, but the light powder residue in the usual hiding spots says it hadn't been fired more than a few rounds.

The thing that will drive you PC guys crazy is, the store's gunsmith (for whatever reason) stripped her down, and parkerized all the steel, from pipe to sling swivels. Oddly enough, he left the hammer and lock as-is. I actually kind of like it. It's the grey parkerization.

I personally don't care, since I don't rondy or re-enact. Now, to get some lead!!

I'll take some outside pics later (if I remember)...

Sweet :) I have an Italian made Zouave that pop gave me a few months ago. It's fun to shoot, but shoots a bit high. Nonetheless, I am sure you will have a blast with it.

Looks different, rather non-original, but good. Do NOT let that gunsmith near your M39, though! Parkerizing that would be sacrilege.

Regards,
Joel

With the right minnie ball size it can be ammazinly accurate, and lots of fun to shoot
long distance with. I use my 61 (Armi Sport)
Springfield to shoot out to 300 yards at steel
plates.

Looks good BD. Let us know how it shoots. Interesting gun rack too.

My Zoli Zouave is a powerful and accurate rifle with 100 grains of 2f and a .570 patched ball. It's a bit heavier than I like to carry hunting but the weight helps with recoil. And as someone mentioned, it does fit right in with your military rifles.

My Navy Arms Harpers Ferry Rifle was made by Zoli. It came with a .58 "Minie Rifled" Barrel - wide shallow Grooves - I think 1:48 twist (this was quite some time ago). I rebarreled it with a Getz tube, but if yours has the same tube, I can tell you it shot quite well. PRB accuracy was surpisingly good.

I'd heard that the Zoli Zouaves are the ones to look for but don't know what's wrong with the ones from Euroarms and/or Armisport. Anyone know the differences and are they really that different?

Also, how do you tuck that revolver in your waistband; just how big is that thing or is it an optical illusion? :idunno:

LOL, it's an illusion w/it close to the camera. That's just a Navy in 44.

Bdhutier,

I just posted a question on a Hy-Hunter Zouave that I found in a local store. Since I've never handled a Zouave, does your metal ramrod go all the way to the bottom of your barrel? This one's ramrod did not and I don't know if they are built that way or what.
