Hello gents,

My name is Dow...I am 40, work for the railroad, and live about 30 miles southeast of Seattle, although I am NOT originally from this state. I was born and raised in Texas, but got out of the military up here and got a good job many moons ago...I have a home, a family...and now I'm stuck.

Either way....I'm just saying hello and hope to learn little bit about the couple blackpowder firearms I have. I only have 2....and my first one is a Pedersoli double barrel .72 caliber rifle that I bought 20+ years ago when I was in the Navy for $500...first gun I ever bought. The other is an older shotgun that I am unfamiliar with, but I will post some photos in the identification section shortly.

I'm also a volunteer at a railroad/coal mining museum, and I explore old towns and coal mines in my off time.

Glad to be here and thanks for having me,

Dow

Another Howdy and Welcome from Texas!
There's a lot of good info available to you just for the asking.
But from you, we love gun, shooting, and scenery photos, and I bet you've got some beautiful areas way up there. Show us!
And any outdoor stories you have, too. Got Squatch? :ghostly:

Well Son! Much obliged for the warm welcome gen’min! I will always be a Texan…although I may not sound or look like much of one anymore…but when it comes down to it…I still think like one!

Probably the biggest and only mistake I’ve ever made in life was staying up here and not going back to Texas when I got out of the military. Oh well…this is where God intended for me to be I guess.

WA state has become very stringent on firearms lately. But I bought this old Richards blackpowder shotgun yesterday at a show and didn’t even have to give the man my name…I walked right out with it. He said that “WA state doesn’t consider it a real gun”. Score!!! Nobody but you all knows I gots it!

I’m trying to figure out about what time period it’s from…sometime in the 1800’s I would think.

Welcome from New England.
I’m an old railway man myself, from the days of steam.
when steam went so did I and joined the Australian army.

Thanks for the welcome buddy! Steam left the US I believe around ‘59 or ‘60…I think the N&W was the last major freight railroad to use it. So…you were Australian army in the 60’s..? Did you serve in Vietnam?
