Hello all,
I'm a newbie to all of this, but I am strongly considering joining an 18th c. group and working on an F&I-period central North Carolina militia impression. However, the needs of a young family (5, 3, and 1 y.o.), lack of free time, and tight funds conspire against me... :(

With any luck, I'll be spending some time annoying the Lafayette Long Rifles fellas in the central North Carolina region this fall. I'd love to eventually work my way into a NC Provinical impression (maybe Waddell's Ranger Company out of Fort Dobbs), but those uniforms look expensive. Scout/longrifleman is intriguing as well. Maybe one of Quentin Kennedy's "Indian Corps" scouts from Grant's 1761 campaign against the Cherokee, out of SC...

Good to have found this place! My thanks,
-Jess

Howdy Jess. Welcome aboard!

I'm in the same boat. I've been wanting to get the full setup together for rondevous, but alas, time and funds just aren't there yet. Hang in there. :hatsoff:

Been there -- done that -- got my T-shirt. Nice thing about this sport is you can make a lot of the stuff you need and save on the $. Great tips in the rooms.
Welcome and make the most of it :hatsoff:

Hi Jess, glad you found this site and can join us. We have all been in your shoes at one point in our lives; just do what you can afford for now. As one of your responders has said, you can make a lot of your kit yourself. Probably the least expensive and easier of personnas to emulate is the longhunter or scout. Whatever you choose, enjoy the hobby!

Jess,
Welcome to the MLF. I think you will find a lot of information you are looking for here.
Hope you will visit often and contribute when
you can.
I am snake-eyes :hatsoff:
