if, as ron says, the gun hasn't been fired, I leave a charge in and just dump the pan, put a toothpick or feather in it, close the frizzen. It`s gonna take some work to get that thing to go off. same reason I don't wear a motorcycle helmet to bed :grin:
 
I've been on weekend hunting trips where I keep my rifle loaded if it hasn't been raining, or the humidity isn't high. I think the Bevel Brothers did a test where leaving a ML loaded over long periods rusted the barrels badly.
